Writing Prompt
Now you will write a report to inform your classmates about a time in history. After you finish your report, use the facts and details to make up a fictional story.
Now use this information in a fictional narrative about the same topic (as your research report) for your classmates to read.
The report uses accurate facts to inform the reader about the topic
The report has an introduction, body, and conclusion.
The story includes characters, a setting, and a plot with beginning, middle and ending.
Some story elements reflect the real people, places, and/or events in the report
The report and story demonstrate proper usage of the following language conventions:
Has at least one sentence that uses a present participial phrase (e.g., Looking at her report, the student checked that it included participial phrases.
Has at least one sentence that uses a past participial phrase (e.g., Surprised by the error, the boy quickly rewrote the sentence to include a participial phrase)
Has at least one comparative adjective (e.g., better, more, happier) and one superlative adjective (e.g., best, most, happiest)
