Dear Lise,
What is going on right now is that the Nazis have taken over Denmark. They are searching for all of the Jews so then they could relocate them. So rigth now I am helping Ellen hide.She is staying in my house so the soldiers wont take her away.Her parents are with Peter he is helping them hide. So right now I am scared that the Nazis find out that we are hidding Ellen and take her away. Last night the soldiers came to the house and looked for evidence to see if the Rosens were hidding here. But my dad showed them pictures of when we were small and tried to convince them that Ellen was you. And they belived him so they left.After that, Ellen and I were so happy that they didnt find out that she was a Rosen.But I also wish that the Nazis would give the Jews a chance. And let them live in Denmark.

Dear dead sister,in September 30,1943
I’m Annemarie your younger sister.There is lots of things happening,Nazis coming into our home and also they are taking the Jews away from Denmark.We can’t play outside because the Nazi soliders don’t let you.The Nazi soliders have a curfew that you can’t be out after eight o’ clock.Since the Nazis are relocating the Jews we are hiding Ellen Rosen because she is a Jew.We couldn’t hide are their family so Peter was kind enough to Hide Mr.and Mrs.Rosen.So since we are hiding Ellen the Jews came to our home thinking we had all of Rosen family.We are acting like she is my sister and my dad’s daughter.So the Nazi soliders would leave we showed a baby picture of you and said that was Ellen.That was the only way that the Nazi would leave our home saying that you Lise was Ellen.

I’m trying to help Ellen by her trying to be you, it is hard but we are getting use to it, since she is Jewish. Last night Peter came, he only stayed here for a little wile. He gave me two shells, a big one and a small one. The small one was for Kirsti. Peter also brought a big bottle of beer for my parents, after that Peter left.
The same night German soldiers came. I guess they suspected we were helping the Rosens. The Germans asked for our names, Ellen said Lise Johansen but they didn’t believe us. Dad showed them our baby pictures and then they believed us and left. I hope you understand me.
